Have you ever heard about Secret Santa? At Chatterbox it’s something that we like doing every year!

Secret Santa is a Christmas tradition that takes place in many different parts of the world: Great Britain, Poland, United States, Australia and the Philippines are just some examples!

This tradition consists in assigning to all the participants of the “game” a random person to buy a Christmas present for and this person will never know who the gift comes from. It is a lovely tradition that emphasizes the concept of donating something just for the sake of it, in a completely anonymous way and also emphasizes the pleasure of unwrapping a present without having any idea of what could be inside.

The Secret Santa is very easy to organize, you’ll just need to write down all the participants’ names on small pieces of paper, fold them up and put them inside a small basket or bag. Then, in turns, you’ll have to pick a name and that person will be the one who you’ll have to buy a present for! Be careful! You can only pick out a different name if the one that you picked was your own name!

Finally, you’ll have to choose a place where everyone can leave their secret Christmas presents and set a date to gather all together and open all the gifts!

For more technological folk, there are now loads of websites (for example this one www.secretsantaorganiser.com) that will organize everything for you in a very smart and easy way, without wasting any paper. All the participants will, in fact, receive an e-mail with the name of the person that they must buy a present for.

A small tip: as to avoid embarrassing situations, it would be better to decide a budget in advance so that everyone is aware of it; like this it’s possible to avoid any awkwardness when opening the presents!
