This year our school is involved in a very special charity project called “Masika's Dream” (“Il Sogno di Masika”).

Our former student Irene, who is also our Director Tessa’s daughter, is in fact in Uganda as a volunteer and teaches English at Worth a Heaven Primary School in Kasese, a city of 100,000 citizens, located within the Rwenzori National Park.

The school hosts about 150 students, of which about twenty are guests of the orphanage that belongs to the school itself.

The school was recently built and has not yet been completed. In fact, three classrooms are still missing, Y5, Y6 and Y7. The Y5 classroom is particularly urgent because the Y4 children will be returning from the summer holidays in December and will not have their own classroom and will therefore not be able to attend lessons.

At the moment the children only have a notebook and a pencil and copy everything from the blackboard.

Therefore, Chatterbox dedicated the fundraiser on December 9th to this project on the occasion of Christmas Jumper Day, collecting a donation of €161 from the students in via Tempio and €26 from the students in viale La Plaia.

Also on the occasion of the Christmas fair organized by our school on December 13th, a part of the funds raised will go, as usual, to Lukuman, the Ugandan student we have been supporting for years, while the other part will go to the school in Kasese.

By doing so, we hope to give significant help to this reality for the construction of the missing classrooms and for the general improvement of the structure, which floods heavily during the rainy season.

We have also activated a collection of educational material which will then be sent on site or personally brought to Kasese by Tessa, who will leave for Uganda at the beginning of January. Everything is missing: colors, markers, notebooks, rulers, pencils, erasers.

Further information on the project is available on the official website, on the Facebook page "Il Sogno di Masika" and it is possible to make direct donations on the GoFundMe page dedicated to the initiative.
